Nutrition Consults

Katie Doran, dietitian, has joined us in our pursuit of our goal of providing tools for disease prevention.  She is joining us Friday mornings to provide consultations, resting metabolic rate testing (RMR) and DXA body fat analysis. 

A healthy diet and exercise are paramount to a healthy weight, and a healthy weight is ssociated with a much lower risk of disease. 


Why be concerned about your weight?
  Being overweight or obese is associated with increased risk of diseases such as

  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease
  • diabetes
  • cancer
  • gall bladder disease
  • osteoarthritis
  • sleep apnea

The good news is that losing just a small amount of weight (5-10% of your body weight), can significantly reduce these risks–by up to 50% in some cases. A lot of gain for a little loss!

Participants in the Diabetes Prevention Program who lost an average of 7% of their body weight and did an average of 30 minutes per day of exercise reduced their risk of diabetes by 58%!


Packages include: 
Resting Metabolic Rate and a consultation with Katie, on the same day.

Resting Metabolic Rate, a consultation and two DXA body fat analyses, one now and one within a year, to assess progress.

Six (6) diet consultations for help with motivation, progress and success.

Two DXA body fat analysis measurements, one now and one within the year to assess progress.

Single diet consultations are also available for patients who desire more information on weight loss,  heart health, diabetic diets and for things such as celiac disease. 

These services are not covered by insurance but are very reasonably priced.

On the Day of your measurement appointment:

  • Do not eat or drink anything other than water for at least 4 hours prior
  • Do not exercise for at least 4 hours prior
  • Do not smoke or use nicotine for at least 1 hour prior
  • Do not consume caffeine or nutritional supplements or medications containing ephedra, ma huang, or pseudoephedrine for at least 4 hours prior
  • sit quietly for 10-15 minutes prior to the measurement.
